Portfolio

To be eligible for admission to the Master's program in Architecture and Urban Design, you must submit work samples that give us an overall picture of what you already know in the field of architecture.

Your portfolio should contain a selection of projects that display and communicate your capabilities and skills in architecture. It should show your working process, how you develop your ideas, as well as your ability to reflect critically about your work and its social, political and ethical dimensions.

Format and content for your portfolio

Make sure to strictly follow the requirements below, otherwise your application will be marked as ineligible.

  • Your portfolio must be submitted digitally as one (1) document in PDF format.
  • The file size may not exceed 10 Mb.
  • Your full name, e-mail address and application number must be stated on the first page of your portfolio.
  • Include a short description of the context in which each work has been produced. For example, this may mean describing what the assignment was about, what the conditions for the project were, what goals were to be achieved, and similar relevant information.
  • Indicate if the work has been produced independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Specify if some of the work has been produced during an internship or while working as a professional.

Submit your portfolio

Send your digital portfolio by email directly to Umeå School of Architecture, to the e-mail address uma.admissions@umu.se.

Portfolios must be submitted no later than the deadline for receipt of application fee/document you're not required to pay the fee. You can find current application deadlines at the University Admissions website.

Please note!

  • Do not send a hard copy of your portfolio by regular post. It will neither be assessed nor approved.
  • Do not submit your portfolio to University Admissions in Sweden.
