Welcome to the Department of Sociology! We are looking forward to meet you as a student. Here you will find everything you need to know in order to start the course.
You need to register for the course online at your student web page at www.umu.se/student. To be able to do the web registration, you must have activated your user account (Umu-id). Read more about this further down in this welcome letter under the heading Activate your user account.
Web registration is open during the period of 11 February – 18 February. It is important that you register during that period, otherwise you may lose your study place.
You get access to the course in the learning platform one week before the course starts. Please note that the information on the course page in the learning platform may be updated closer to the start of the course.
Please note that the course is taught in English. You can find the course contents in the syllabus. Information about books and texts you must obtain can be found in the literature list.
Har du inte pluggat hos oss tidigare så kan det vara mycket att komma in i och hålla reda på. Välkommen till våra digitala föreläsningar 10-13 januari då vi guidar dig genom studiestarten. Föreläsningarna är ca en timme lång och ges i Zoom. Vad vill du veta mer om?
Under din studietid har du gratis tillgång till hela Microsoft Office 365. I Office 365 ingår bland annat Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Whiteboard Forms, din studentmejl och en mängd andra tjänster. Allt för att underlätta studierna och ditt samarbete med andra studenter. För att få tillgång till Office behöver du först aktivera ditt Umu-id.
Infocenter hjälper dig med det du kan behöva för att ta dig genom de första veckorna som ny student. Här kan du till exempel få hjälp med ditt Umu-id, att hitta rätt i lokaler eller träffa en studievägledare. Och skulle de inte ha ett svar direkt, så vet de var och hur de vägleder dig vidare. Infocenter håller till i huset Universum, mitt på Campus Umeå.
