The course is entirely web-based and there will be no physical meetings. The study pace is 25%, which corresponds to about 10 hours of work per week.
The course consists of an introductory week and seven two-week modules. Each module consists of lectures and assignments (group and individual) addressing different aspects of Sámi and Indigenous health. Some lectures will be pre-recorded and some will be live online lectures – then recorded and uploaded on the course portal Canvas afterwards. The last module is centred around writing a PM and a mandatory seminar to discuss the PMs. This PM-seminar is the only mandatory meeting during the course, so please make sure that you will be able to participate.
The mandatory seminar will take place on Dec 15th or 16th, depending on which group you will belong to.
During the first week of the course, the participants will be divided into groups that will meet throughout the course. Group assignments, such as discussions, can be carried out in English or Swedish. Groups will be created based on your individual needs regarding language (Eng/Swe) and meeting times (working hours during weekdays or evenings/weekends).
To be able to influence which group type you will belong to, please make sure that you let the course organisers know of your preferences (on Canvas), no later than August 29th.
Information about the course, recorded lectures and instructions for assignments will be made available on the course platform Canvas. Online lectures (live) and group work will be conducted using the online meeting program “Zoom”.
Here is a guide to the most common functions in Zoom. You create an account and log in with your Umu ID.
