WELCOME TO THE COURSE

Master's Programme in Artificial Intelligence

Welcome to the Master’s Programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The programme provides an opportunity to gain advanced knowledge in the foundations and applications of AI in an international environment. Having completed the programme, you will be well prepared for a career in academia or industry, depending on your interests and the focus of your studies.

How to start

  • 2. Activate your user account

As a new student, you need to activate your user account (your Umu-id) approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

With your user account you can:

    • register for courses
    • access the internet in computer labs and the university's wireless network
    • submit assignments and verify your study results
    • access your student e-mail

If you are a new student, you will automatically receive a user account when you are admitted, but you will need to activate it for it to function properly. You will not be able to activate it until approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

I want to learn more about my user account (Umu-id)

Exchange student or tuition fee paying student

If you are an exchange student or tuition fee paying student, you will receive an email with instructions on how to activate your account.

    Help! It´s not working

If you are having problems activating your account or logging in, please contact our Servicedesk. You will find answers to common questions, and can submit enquiries.

During the first semester you will take courses as outlined in the table below (you read two courses in parallel):

    Aug-Oct
    Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (Schedule)
Foundations of Logic and Model Theory (Schedule) OR
    Statistics for Engineers (Schedule)

    Nov-Jan
Stochastic Processes and Simulation – for Data science profile (Mathematical Statistics) OR
Interactivity in Smart Environments – for the other profile areas (in CS)
Artificial Intelligence – Methods and Applications

Depending on which courses you took in your Bachelor you have to choose to take either logic or statistics in the autumn:

    • Foundations of Logic and Model Theory (If you already took a course in Statistics)

    • Statistics for Engineers (If you already took a course in Logic)

If you have taken both logic and statistics since before, please contact the programme director to decide a suitable alternative course.

During the second half of the semester, you will take different courses depending on which profile area you choose; the data science profile area (Mathematical Statistics) or one of the four profile areas within Computer Science.
