Bakteriefilmer på olika ytor kan skapa problem inom ett flertal områden i vårt samhälle, men även vara oss till nytta. I min forskning fokuserar vi på att förstå hur bakterier koloniserar ytor och bildar så kallade biofilmer. Vi försöker därefter använda denna kunskap för att försöka förhindra bakterie-påväxt på olika engångsprodukter inom sjukvården. Vi hoppas på detta sätt kunna bidra till att på sikt minska så kallade främmande-kropps-infektioner. Vi bedriver även forskning där vi undersöker hur naturliga biofilmer i vattendrag påverkar läkemedel som spridits i miljön.

Forskningen i min grupp är mycket tvärvetenskaplig och vi samarbetar bland annat med kollegor i England och Brasilien. Mer information om detta samarbete finns (på engelska) via denna länk.
