You have been admitted to the Master's Programme in Business Development and Internationalisation at Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics, Umeå University. My name is Martina Sundqvist and I am the Programme Advisor. On this page you will find important information, please read it carefully. The autumn semester starts with lectures on the 30th of August.
The schedule for the first module, "Perspectives on Strategy, 7.5 credits", will be published no later than the 9th of August at the website mentioned above.
Recommended arrival time
You are recommended to arrive at least one week before lectures start so that you can participate in all the introductory activities.
There will be a special Welcome meeting for all International Students at USBE (=Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics). The date and time will come soon.
The International Office at Umeå University will arrange an Orientation Course for international students starting 25th of August. It is recommended that all international students attend it. The schedule for that will be found here.
Late arrival
You are recommended to arrive one week early before the start of lectures but at the very last you may arrive one week late, before 4.30 p.m. Monday the 6th of September.
If you arrive later you will no longer have a seat at the program and will have to return home. If you fear that you will face some delay keep in touch with me, your Program Advisor.

We have gathered all information that you will need during your time here at USBE on our student website.
At the "Student web of USBE" you will find information about schedules, exams, internships, thesis, studies abroad, degrees and career. (Click on the MENU at the top right-hand corner of the webpage to access the different information).
We will start a Facebook group for all newly admitted students to this program. An e-mail with a link to the group will be sent out. If you have not received it and wish to join the group contact me. (The e-mail can also have ended up in your junk mail).

During the first semester of the programme you will study a 30 credit course called "Strategic Business Development D, 30 credits".
The course syllabus with the expected learning outcomes and literature list is one and the same for the whole course (= the 1st semester). You will study the course from the 30th of August until the 16th of January 2022.
The course "Strategic Business Development D, 30 credits" consists of four different modules that you study for five weeks each in sequence one after the other.
The first module is called "Perspectives on Strategy, 7.5 credits" (That is also the name of the first schedule).
You will find the schedule for the first module in the programme, "Perspectives on Strategy, 7.5 credits", published no later than the 9th of August.
Each module has a separate schedule that will be published one month before the start of the specific module.
We use an educational platform for these modules called Cambro.
In Cambro you will find all the information you need for this module such as the instructions for assignments, list of module participants and messages from the teacher.
Remember that in order to start the first course and first module of that course you must first be registered. This will be done when you arrive.
Umu-id är ditt användarkonto. Det behöver du för att kunna registrera dig på utbildningen. När du är ny student får du automatiskt ett Umu-id, men du måste själv aktivera det för att det ska fungera.
Umu-id kommer du behöva när du ska: • registrera dig på kurser • lämna in tentor, uppgifter eller se dina resultat • kolla din studentmejl • skaffa Umu-kort • använda datorer i datorsalar och universitetets wifi.
För att få tillgång till ditt Umu-id behöver du gå igenom vår aktiveringsguide. Detta kan du göra en vecka innan terminsstart, men ofta går det att göra tidigare än så. Du får inget särskilt meddelande från oss när det är möjligt att aktivera ditt användarkonto.
När du är på något av våra campus kommer du behöva ett Umu-kort. Umu-kortet är personligt och fungerar som passerkort, kopieringskort och lånekort. Allt i ett. För att få tillgång till kortet måste du själv ansöka om det.
Sök det pedagogiska stöd du har rätt till på direkten. Då är det fixat när terminen börjar och du bara vill komma i gång med utbildningen.
Du kan få stöd om du till exempel har dyslexi, adhd eller nedsatt syn. Beroende på dina behov finns olika typer av stöd. Vanligt är att en får anteckningsstöd, längre skrivtid eller anpassning av sitt kursmaterial. Målet är helt enkelt att göra det lättare för dig att plugga på lika villkor.
Infocenter, möjligen de bästa vi har. De hjälper dig genom de första veckorna som ny student. Kanske behöver du hjälp med ditt Umu-id, att hitta rätt i lokalerna eller snabbt stämma av med en studievägledare? Och skulle de inte ha ett svar direkt, så vet de var och hur de vägleder dig vidare.
Infocenter håller till i Universum, huset mitt på Campus Umeå. Det är bara att du hör av dig om något krånglar.
