Cancer

Cancer is a malignant disease and one of the most common causes of death in our time. The aim of studying cancer is to develop safe and effective methods to prevent, detect, diagnose, treat and ultimately cure the various diseases known as cancer. The better we understand these diseases, the more progress we will make towards reducing the human suffering and economic costs of cancer.

Areas within cancer

Clinical research

Clinical cancer research is patient-oriented research in close collaboration with the health care system.

Basic research

We need a greater understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind the spread of cancer.

Translational cancer research

Translational research bridges the gap between laboratory-based science and cancer treatment in clinic.
