Mitt forskningsintresse handlar om identitetskonstruktioner och maktrelationer inom främst föreningsidrotten och idrott och hälsa med fokus på genus och jämställdhet, mångfald och jämlikhet.
In May 2014 Kim Wickman was appointed associate professor as part of Umeå University's effort to develop the area of Special Education from Umeå School of Education. The posts comprise research (80%) and teaching (20%) for four years and were aimed at strengthening Umeå University's position regarding research and teaching within the field of Special Education. Currently, she is the coordinator of interdisciplinary research collaboration for Special Education at Umeå University and a team member of the DISLIFE research project Liveable disabilities: Life courses and opportunity structures across time, led by professor Lotta Vikström: http://www.idesam.umu.se/english/research/research-projects/dislife/
Kim´s research and teaching interests are identity constructions and power relations within the field of sport and special education with particular reference to, ability, disability, gender and equality.
Her doctoral thesis deals with the complex interaction of discourses about gender, (dis)ability and sport, and illustrates how these operate in the context of wheelchair racing. A digital copy of the thesis can be downloaded at:
